Agents and partners

Agents that talk to partners. And say who they speak for.

HONESTAS links your agents to the agents and systems of brokers, coverholders, reinsurers and TPAs. Every message carries who sent it, on whose behalf and what it may do. A message outside its authority is refused, and the refusal is kept, by both firms.

What people see

Everything between two firms, on one page.

A page for each partner shows the written agreement, every message sent each way, what each one caused and its state. When a request asks Northgate to act for a firm it does not act for, the refusal is on the page with the reason.

  • The agreement each message went under
  • Direction written in words, never only an arrow
  • Their figures shown as theirs, not ours
  • A refusal with a reference the partner can quote

How a message travels

Five checks, on every message, both ways.

Messages from partners’ agents and messages to them pass the same checks. The result is the same record on both sides.

The check on every message

  1. Who sent it. A signed agent card names the agent, its firm and its owner.
  2. For whom. The firm it acts for, and the agreement it acts under.
  3. What it may do. The authority in that agreement, with its limits and end date.
  4. What it may see. The walls between the firms, applied to the reply as well.
  5. What it carries. An ACORD or BiPRO payload, checked against its standard.

Accepted or refused. Either way, the message and the checks are sealed into one record that both firms keep.

Refused, and kept

A refusal is a result. It is kept like one.

A message outside its authority, behind a wall or from an agent nobody can name is refused. The refusal is kept with its reason, both firms see it, and the sender is told in plain words what to do instead.

  • Kept with the reason, never dropped
  • The same record on both sides
  • The sender told what to do instead
  • Nothing half done: a refused message changes nothing

Formats

The industry’s own formats. Nothing new to learn.

Partners connect with the standards they already use. A partner with no agent of its own can join as a named guest instead.

  • ACORD

The insurance industry’s data standards, including bordereaux and the reinsurance and large commercial messages.

  • BiPRO

The German market’s standards for exchange between brokers and insurers.

  • Agent-to-agent

The open Agent2Agent protocol, with a signed agent card for every agent.

  • Your own systems

Webhooks and keys for partners who send from their own platforms, each key with an owner.

Each partner link is an ICT arrangement you can list in your DORA register of information (Regulation (EU) 2022/2554), with its own record of every exchange. Not legal advice.

Questions

About agents and partners.

What is an agent link?

A connection between your agents and a partner’s agents or systems. Every message on it says who sent it, for whom and what it may do.

Do partners need HONESTAS?

No. They connect with ACORD, BiPRO or the Agent2Agent protocol from what they already run. A partner with no agent can join as a named guest.

What happens to a refused message?

Nothing changes, the refusal is kept with its reason by both firms, and the sender is told what to do instead.

Can a partner’s agent see our other data?

No. It sees only what the agreement and the walls allow, and the same limits apply to every reply it gets.

Where is the record kept?

Each firm keeps the same sealed record, outside either firm’s own installation, so neither side can change it alone.
