What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across honestas.ai. We check new pages with automated tools and by hand, using a keyboard and a screen reader, before they go live, and again when they change.
How the site is built
- Day and Night. The site follows your system setting, or you can choose Day or Night with the switch at the top of every page. Both themes are designed for readable contrast, and your choice is remembered on this device.
- Keyboard. Every menu, tab, accordion, form and button works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline. A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on every page. Tabs move with the arrow keys.
- Reduced motion. If your device asks for less motion, entrance animations and other moving parts stop. Nothing on the site flashes.
- Text alternatives. Illustrations and product screens have text descriptions. Labels on drawings are real text, not part of the picture. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Structure. Pages use real headings, landmarks and lists, so you can move around them with assistive technology. Each page has an “On this page” list where it helps.
- Zoom and small screens. Pages reflow down to 320 pixels wide and can be zoomed to 400% without losing content or scrolling sideways.
- Plain words. We write short sentences and use the insurance market's own terms, explained where they first appear.
The interactive parts
- The seal check. The sample record on the home page is an ordinary text box. The result of each check is announced to screen readers as it appears.
- The regulatory clock. Dates on the timeline are buttons you can reach and choose by keyboard. The count is announced when you change the date, not every second.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label, required fields are marked, and the form tells you which field needs attention before it sends.
- Enlarging screens. Product screens open larger in a dialog you can close with the Escape key or the close button.
Known limitations
Where a part of the site cannot meet the aim in full, we give you another way to get the same information:
- Product screens. Pictures of sample HONESTAS screens carry descriptions that summarise what each screen shows, not every detail on it. Ask us and we will walk you through any screen in words, or show it live in a demo.
- Documents. If a paper or document we send you is hard to use with your tools, tell us and we will send an accessible version.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, tell us. Write to hello@honestas.ai with “Accessibility” in the subject, or use the contact form. Say which page, what you were trying to do and what you use to browse. A person will reply and work with you on it.
The law
The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) sets accessibility requirements for a range of products and services sold in the EU. In Ireland it is brought into law by S.I. No. 636 of 2023, and its requirements have applied since 28 June 2025. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is the market surveillance authority for products, and sector regulators, such as the Central Bank of Ireland for consumer banking services, cover their own areas. Not legal advice.
We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA across this whole site, whether or not a given page falls under the Act.
